The swap page 2

Just food for thought. As of February 7th, 2005 my motor is on its way to the U.S. from Japan. Its trip time should be arround the four week mark to get across the pond.

That one is mine; all $3,700.00 worth of it. Its comming with the tails and wing (but they are damaged), BOV, apexi Dual exhaust (one tip was bent, but it is fixable). All of that stuff is a plus but i just hope it makes it here and the motor is in good condition.

March 4th i just got word the the motor will be ready to pick up on sunday and its in Philly now!!!!

Look At Whats Here

I was a heck of a trip up and back; but we made it!

Thats the clip with my motor in it. I was not the happiest person when I found out it was not a compleat rear end. But Dave at PA Auto Racing took care of his customer and supplied this as well ( for a little extra loot)

It's just one of the shells he had laying around that has the extra parts I was looking for. LOL thats a nice shot of the rear lippage too.

After getting it in the shop it took me no time to get out there a few late nights looking things over and pulling the new motor out

.

For this being my first swap as of no things were going very well. Alone i got the new motor out of the clip and on the engine stand in about 5 hours. Most of that time was spent just looking at things and making notes of parts that needed to be replaced later.

Thats it shes out; Now i just need to clean out some of the extra parts on this clip and i can dispose of it.

Its Time For More Work

Now that the motor is out where I can get to everything; its time to start the detailed inspection...

Here it is just hanging around.

Here it sits on the engine stand; its amazing to me how complicated a motor looks with its wiring harness and sensors fully attached. When I broke down the 5SFE and left just the core engine components it looked like it was half the size and it was a lot easier to get to everything.

With inspection of the motor I have become a bit nervous that the previous owner might have been harsh on the car. When I removed the intake tube it was filled with oil; and that was not a good sign to me; but Dave reassured me it would be ok. Also you can see the bright red hose that went to a boost controller, there was also a temperature probe zip tied to the x-brace and a Greddy oil filter plate with a temperature and pressure sensor installed.

Well as you can see a little bit of cleaning goes a long way. I still have a tone of stuff that needs to be done at this point BUT I'm lacking parts and time...
