The wheels Oh the wheels

Soon coming....

The long drawn out story about the aggravation I’ve gone through trying to get a set of wheels that were not even my first pick. Yes I know I went with the ADR M-Sports over the Work VS-XX’s. Why, Why?? You might ask; well its easy Price was by far in the M-Sports favor and availability as well (so I thought).

Dec 14 04

Well it’s now Dec. 14, 2004 and I have yet to receive my wheels. But here goes the story up to know.

Back in February I went on the market for some wheels for the Project MR2 and found a set that I liked online but had a hard time finding a US dealer; they were the Work VS-XX’s. After more searching I found a importer that sold these wheels, special order only; I called them and talked with a gentleman about what I wanted and the correct offsets and dish sizes for the car. Once we got all that figured out he gave me a quote and I about fell over. 2300.00 USD he said with out shipping and no tires!! Wow I was not expecting that; so my hopes had been set aside and the search continued. I then came across the ADR M-Sports. More accessible wheel with dealers everywhere, so I called one with one of the lower prices (closer to home, east coast) and wanted to place an order. I talked with a guy there and they said they didn’t have the sizes/color I wanted in stock and to check back. So I did a few weeks later and again a few weeks after that and was finally told that they were on a six week backorder so I gave it a rest for a while. A couple of months later I called again and was told the same thing. Slightly annoyed I found ADR’s US distributor and gave them a call to see what was up. They confirmed that they were on backorder and that they had no idea when they would be in. But then he asked me what size I was looking for and the color; in reply he told me he had three of the wheels I was looking for but no enough to make a set. When I told him I only needed the two we were in business. I then called Wheeldiscount and talked with Tony (ext. 102) and filled him in; they had the 17” wheels I needed for the front so we placed the order and I was told they should get the wheel from ADR with in the week and I should be seeing my wheels at the shop in about two weeks to be safe. (July by the way)

Great the wheels are on the way… well that’s what I was told for almost four months. After the two weeks had come and passed I called for an update and Tony told me that they were on the way from ADR. settled I went with it and left it alone, after several weeks and many calls and getting the same B/S story I asked if they had a tracking number for me; he told me that they don’t track their orders so no was the answer. Back on the phone with ADR they confirmed my belief that all orders are sent out via freight with a tracking number and should not take more than 5 days to get anywhere on the east cost. When I asked Tony about this he transferred me to a manager (Ritchie 103) I explained the situation and he reassured me that he would handle it. Another couple of weeks went by and nothing calling back and talking with Ritchie many times and getting nowhere I flamed him and was transferred to his boss man Brian (104) again telling him what went on I was told that he would solve this for me. Several weeks passed with me calling about every other day and getting nothing or being put on hold for up to 45min at a time and then only getting 3 or 4 min of useless info I was about pissed. Back with Ritchie I finally got some wheels.

Too bad they were all wrong but one!!! Dumb fools ok I ordered two 17X7 hyperblack ADR M-Sports and two 18X9.5 hyperblack M-Sports. What do I get; two used and DAMAGED CHROME 17X7’s and one silver 18 and a hyperblack 18, I mean come on after that much time they still couldn’t get it right??? I called Ritchie and let him have it again so I was then transferred to Larry (106) to try and get this all straight. I am still messing around with Larry but it seems that they just put me on the back burner and let me simmer. Every time I called it seemed like they forgot about it and nothing was done. Larry was trying to convince me the 18’s were the right color and the same color, but this was and still is painfully not the case.

As you can see the wheel on the left is very much a silver wheel where the one on the right is the hyper black it took me and the guy from ADR along with about 20 other pics to get him to understand.

After getting tired of waiting I have given in the goons at wheel discount keep saying that all the hyperblack wheels they have are the silver color so I have requested some pics of there stock to determine if I want them or not. Since I requested this at the beginning of last week and its now a new week I feel I will not be seeing any pics but we will have to see ill be calling again tomorrow. All I know is a while ago they mentioned a sponsorship from Falken tires or me getting a refund and the wheels one of the two better be happening or they are going to have some legal issues.
